About

I’m Emma, in my mid thirties and living in SW London. I grew up in Falmouth, Cornwall.

I have decided to combine two of my loves here at Fork and Pixel – Food and Photography. Music is my third love and essential whilst cooking and baking and the louder the better!

I am a self taught cook/baker and I have a BA (Hons) in Photography. My current camera is a Canon 6D with 100mm 2.8 macro and 50mm 1.4 lenses. For the first year of the blog I was using an Olympus OMD EM5 with Olympus 45mm and Lumix 20mm lens.

I have avoided wheat for the last 13 years so any pasta lovers can click away from the page now. All my personal baking is done with spelt flour which I find is a straight swap for wheat flour. Much of my cooking is gluten free as is some of my baking so I will try to tag any gluten free recipes as such but assume you will know to use gluten free stock, soy etc.

All content – both text and image – is mine unless stated otherwise. Please contact me to discuss before using any content.

  1. Hi Emma 🙂 Well, you won’t be surprised with what I say – love your pictures, as for now have seen just several recipes but going to explore it more. It seems that in SW London there is a huge food-blogging community 🙂

  2. Hi Emma,
I’m Gen. I’m also a self-taught cook but very new to blogging (also can’t photograph food to save my life!). Your photos are absolutely incredible. Perfection. I don’t have a gluten-free diet but I’m looking forward to trying some of your recipes. I can’t resist. Everything looks so good! Thanks for sharing! Take care.

    1. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. You have brightened what was otherwise a bad day! Most of the recipes I post are for regular flour I just swap out to spelt so you can just swap back to regular flour!

  3. Hi Emma, so glad to have discovered your beautiful blog today. Your latest post popped up while I was scrolling through the WP reader on my way home and I just had to follow up with a proper browse at home on my PC. You take such great photos! Congratulations on your recent award – very well deserved.

  4. Hi Emma,
Just found your blog via Food, Photography & France and am delighted to have found it! I’ve been trying to cut wheat from my diet for a couple of years now, and will try replacing it with spelt!! I’ll be getting some tomorrow!

    1. Thanks Andreas. Welcome and thanks to Roger for pointing you in my direction! I use white spelt flour as a straight swap for plain flour and find it much more tolerable. Let me know how you get on

      1. I don’t know why I’ve not tried spelt flour before! My mum has been baking her own spelt bread for years and years, grinding her own flour, but she lives too far away…

Cooking Sustainably

Cooking sustainably is making a choice to cook in a low impact way, a simple way, with low waste and low energy. There are many interpretations of sustainable food, and here I only focus on ways that we as individuals can make a difference with our choices.
